Cartographic viewer of Spain

Mapping used:

  • Topographic maps of Spain offered by the National Geographic Institute (IGN) at different scales (1:2,000,000, 1:500,000, 1:200,000, 1:50,000, 1;25,000)
  • Historical maps:
    • Cartographic minutes corresponding to the digitization of handwritten paper maps stored in the IGN Technical Archive. This is the work leading up to the completion of the National Topographic Map, in some cases several decades apart from the publication of the first edition of the MTN of the area. This type of documents were mainly made between 1870 and 1950 and are classified into planimetric minutes, altimeymetric minutes and joint minutes of altimetry and planimetry. Drawn at 1:25,000 scale, with an accuracy of obtaining the corresponding information at 1:50,000 scale.
    • Mapping of the first editions of the National Topographic Maps (MTN25 and MTN50) and MTN50 minutes obtained by photomechanical methods.
    • CEGET military maps show 5 layers: Military raster map at 1:1,000,000 scale with hypsometric inks, 1:100,000 scale military topographic map edited from BTN100 with contours every 40 m (M682 series), and 3 topographic map layers to 1:100,000 scale 1:50,000 scale with contours every 20 m with L-series symbology (Series P713, M7814 and M7815).
  • Map of the Open Street Map collaborative project where users themselves map the world
  • Aerial photographs of Spain of the most current PNOA plan
  • The different flights of existing historical orthophotos:
    • PNOA from 2004 to 2017. Photogrammetric flight of the National Air Orthophotography Plan (PNOA).
    • SIGPAC 1997-2003. Ortho images of the SIGPAC flight made between 1997 and 2003 on the entire Spanish territory. The flight was made by the Ministry of Agriculture, through the Spanish Agricultural Guarantee Fund (FEGA), together with contributions from some CCAAs, with the aim of generating the orthophotos that served as a reference for the Parcel Identification System (SIGPAC).
    • OLISTAT0 1997-1998. Ortho images of the flight OLISTAT Oleícola made by the Ministry of Agriculture between 1997 and 1998 on part of the Spanish territory to count the number of olive trees of the Spanish territory. View the flight dates of each zone. The resolution of the orthophoto is one meter throughout the flight.
    • National Flight 1981-1986. Orthoimages of the domestic flight made between 1981 and 1986 on the entire Spanish territory at 1 30,000 scale and carried out by private companies contracted by IGN. This layer allows you to check the resolution of the orthoimage and the date of flight.
    • Interministerial flight. Carried out by the Ministry of Agriculture, Defense, Finance and the Geographical and Catastral Institute (now the National Geographical Institute). Flight dates from 1973 to 1986. Black and white flight scale approx. 1:18,000.
    • American Series B. Photogrammetric flight made in the years 1956-57 by the Army Map Service of the USA. Information provided by the Ministry of Defence (CEGET). Black and white flight scale approx. 1:32,000.
    • American Series A. Photogrammetric flight made in the years 1945-46 by the Army Map Service of the USA. Information provided by the Ministry of Defence (CECAF). With the collaboration of the Air Force. Black and white flight scale approx. 1:43,000.
    • 1929-1930 Ruiz de Alda (Segura Basin). Photogrammetric flight in black and white of the Segura Basin made by Julio Ruiz de Alda between the late 20s and early 30s. Approximate flight stopover 1:10,000.
  • Ign's base mapping with geographic information from different cartographic sources
  • Digital Model of the MDT Terrain representing the relive of the land
  • Digital Model of LiDAR Surfaces generated by composition of four layers: shading, buildings, vegetation and hydrography. From the LiDAR point clouds corresponding to the first coverage of the PNOA-LiDAR project, properly classified, a digital model of surfaces is generated to which a shading is applied. Three layers overlap this shading: two digital models of standard surfaces, one of the vegetation class and one of the building class, and the rasterization of the hydrography layer of the Geographic Reference Information of the Cartographic System National. A color palette is applied to each layer, setting a gradient in the vegetation and building information based on their height on the ground.

  • Cadastral mapping of the General Directorate of the Catastro (Zoom > 300m)
  • Geological mapping of the Geological and Mining Institute of Spain (IGME) at 1/50,000 scale
  • Protected Natural Spaces (ENP) allows the visualization and consultation of the information of the different protection figures obtained as a result of the collection of those declared in accordance with the regulations in force in the different governments map.
  • Red Natura 2000. Places of Community Importance (LIC), which are proposed by the various regional governments and mapama and subsequently must be designated as Special Conservation Zones (SCEs), and the Bird Protection Special Zones (SPAs) make up the Network Natura 2000.
  • Network of Marine Protected Areas of Spain and representing the natural areas of the Network of Marine Protected Areas of Spain (RAMPE), created by Law 41/2010 on the protection of the marine environment, consisting of protected areas located in the Spanish marine environment, representative of marine natural heritage, irrespective of whether their declaration and management are governed by international, Community, state or autonomous standards.
